University of Central Florida is getting a LAZY RIVER

Students at the University of Central Florida will soon be able to take little vacations from their studies without ever leaving campus, as the southern school is set to build its own lazy river.

An article published by the university's newspaper Knight News revealed on Tuesday that UCF has set plans for resort-style attraction, which will be surrounded by palm trees, though is not yet a completion date on the books.

The total cost of construction, which will include several other facility improvements, is $25 million.

Though UCF — the university with the largest enrollment in the country — is a public school, the project is being funded entirely by donations.

The renovations will span the entire Athletics Village, though it's the area called the Recovery Cove that is garnering the most attention.

Here will one day sit a lazy river, as well as a separate pool, a mini-golf course, a cabana area, a beach volleyball sand court, and more.

'We think our niche is phenomenal weather — we've got a beautiful campus and this awesome recruiting base here in Central Florida. We're really trying to accentuate all those things and create what we feel will be an athletics village that's as good as anyone's is in the country,' said  University of Central Florida Director of Athletics Danny White in a press conference.

'The facilities vision is something we've worked on for the last several months. We're excited with how it positions us regionally and nationally in college athletics.'

In addition to the lazy river and mini-golf, the $25 million will also go toward a Football Operations Expansion/Athletics HQ ($2 millions), a John Euliano Park Baseball Expansion/Renovation ($2 million), and a center for student-athlete nutrition ($1 million), as well as other enhancements.

Interestingly enough, UCF isn't even the first US college or university to get a lazy river.

University of Missouri has one in its Tiger Grotto that includes a waterfall and has a hot tub nearby, while The University of Akron has one as well.

Louisiana State University's lazy river, which was part of an $85 million renovation project, is expected to be complete this year and will be shaped like the LSU logo.

And Texas Tech University's Student Leisure Pool, which was complete in 2009, has a 645ft. lazy river, a 25-person hot tub, a 10ft. drop slide, a cascading water wet deck, a 'bubble couch' that massages users with bubbles, and a poolside cafe.
