• After several years working for SBS, she launched her company Gourmet Safaris, an Australian tour company that would allow people to experience the many different cuisines Australia offers. em>Gourmet Safaris completed 20 years in business in 2018.
• Following the success of her company, SBS created a show centred around the idea and called it Food Safari. Hosted by O’Meara, each episode takes viewers on a journey to a different culinary scene in Australia. Some episodes are based on culture, while some are based on the cooking method, such as the use of an open flame or water.
• Maeve also started hosting the show’s sixth season, beginning October 12, 2017.

• In 1981, backpacking through London, Maeve was walking alongside the army barracks in Chelsea when an IRA nail bomb exploded. Two people lost their lives, and Maeve was one among the 40 injured. She was treated for shrapnel wounds to her back and severe bruising.
• Despite this incident, Maeve did not give up her sense of adventure. She travelled through Tunisia, where she had “one of the great epiphanies of her life.” Maeve spent time with a Tunisian family in a tiny mud-brick village, cooked couscous with local women and learned their stories.
• In 2023, Maeve and her partner Toufic purchased Zac’s Place, a local eatery in the small south coast village of Currarong. The village, with a population of 479, is situated just south of Culburra Beach in the Shoalhaven area.
