Allyson Felix is an American sprinter and four time Olympic gold medalist. She specializes in the 100-meter, 200-meter and 400-meter dash. Felix was born on November 18, 1985 in Los Angeles, California. Her father, Paul, is an ordained minister, and her mother, Marlean, a school teacher. She has an older brother named Wes who’s also a sprinter. Felix attended Los Angeles Baptist High School followed by the University of Southern California. She graduated in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.

CAREER
Felix tried out for her high school track team as a freshman. She quickly made a name for herself after dominating the 200-meter sprint at the CIF California State Meet. Felix competed and won two gold medals at the 2001 World Youth Championships in Hungary. She was named “High School Athlete of the Year” in 2003. Felix made her professional debut in 2003. She won gold and bronze at the 2003 Pan American Games in Dominican Republic.

Felix has won a total of nine gold medals at the World Championships from 2005 to 2011. Her Olympic debut was at the 2004 Summer games in Athens. She placed second in the 200-meter dash after Jamaica’s Veronica Campbell-Brown. Felix has won four Olympic gold medals and two silver. The 2016 Summer games in Rio will mark her fourth Olympic appearance. She’ll once again represent team USA in the women’s 200-meter, 400-meter and 4×400-meter relay.
